Twitter: Steve Buttry’s case study @statesman

Buttry’s case study explores how the Austin American-Statesman (www.statesman.com) used Twitter to cover the recent murder-suicide when Andrew Joseph Stack III intentionally crashed his plane into the IRS office in downtown Austin. Buttry stresses that a reporter’s chances of using Twitter successfully depend on engaging the community regularly beforehand.

Nancy Hanus notes that the reporter published his phone number on Twitter and asked that it be passed along, which is not normally done.

Long-time newspaper reporter, passionate online community advocate and prolific tweeter Steve Buttry regularly shares information and insights on his blog Pursuing the Community Connection.
